I was driving my two boys to daycare this morning, listening to the news. All of a sudden, my three year old asks, "Dad, what are they talking about?"
"Taxes."
"Why are they always talking about taxes?"
"Well," I say, "taxes are when the government takes some of our money to pay for things. Some people want the government to have a lot of taxes so the government can be big and take care of a lot of people. Some people don't want the government to have a lot of taxes so the government will be small and more people will have to take care of themselves. The man on the radio wants the government to have less taxes."
He thinks for a second and says, "The government doesn't like that. The government always wants to be bigger."
